My first major published work is an essay in an anthology entitled Talking Taboo: American Christian Women Get Frank About Faith. This compilation of 40 American women under 40 brazenly confronts silencing, shaming, and marginalization at the boundaries of our faith and gender. I’m pretty stoked about it, and i hope you will be too! (I’ve also had a hand in crafting the Discussion Guide in the back, something we hope will be employed by churches, book clubs, womyn’s gatherings, and more!)
In the summer of 2013 I facilitated a four-week long creative writing workshop for young Christian women to talk about their faith and gender – a group inspired by the mission of Talking Taboo. At the culmination of our time together i compiled a selection of essays, poems, and artworks and edited them in a booklet published by the a-mazing Resource Center for Women & Ministry in the South. It’s called Courageous Conversations: Christian Women Unearthing the Unspeakable.
